Greeneville Police believe three recent shopliftings at adult beverage locations are related.
Just after 1 pm Tuesday, Police responded to Greeneville Beverage on Tusculum Boulevard where a man wearing a black sweatshirt and a black hood came into the story and took a fifth of Fireball Whiskey valued at just under nineteen dollars. The store manager said she believed “the theft was related to a shoplifting at another liquor store in town.” A second man was observed inside a burnt orange colored truck.
The first in the series of shopliftings with suspects also leaving in a similar vehicle was reported Sunday night at The Bottle Shop on East Andrew Johnson Highway. The complainant said the unidentified male walked into the store, grabbed two half gallons of “Fireball Whiskey” and walked out the front door without paying. As the suspect was walking out, he reportedly said “I’m going to kill mom.” Once outside the store, he crossed the roadway and got into the passenger seat of a pickup truck parked at Greeneville Federal Bank. The vehicle was described as a late 1990’s to early 2000’s Chevy pick up king cab which was rusty/burnt orange in color.
The third similar theft was reported Tuesday afternoon around 3:15 when a man entered Eagle Wine and Spirits on East Andrew Johnson Highway , took two gallons of moonshine , valued at $46 and left without paying. The description of the getaway vehicle matched the description of the shoplifting earlier in the day.
