The Greeneville Municipal Planning Commission approved a preliminary and final approval for a site plan to a KFC Restaurant, which would be located on 3507 East Andrew Johnson Highway.
According to Planning Director Randy Davenport, the new restaurant would replace the KFC located 1735 EAJH and is located in a vacant lot. A second restaurant could be added in the same lot but has not been confirmed yet. A new entrance could possibly be included in the future in connection with Serral Drive. The recommendation was approved subject to receiving an approved entrance permit from the Tennessee Department of Transportation and a storm water Notice of Coverage (NOC) permit from the Department of Environment and Conservation.
The Planning Commission approved the rezoning of parcels of land located along Pearl Street, West Irish Street, and Henry Street. As discussed in the past, there are several properties that have been zoned incorrectly including the parcels mentioned. In order to help correct some of the rezoning issues, Davenport says it could take several years, so the Planning Department will plan to rezone multiple properties at a time. These parcels were approved to be rezoned from M-2 (high impact use) to R-3 (medium density), reflecting the current use of residential use. The change will have to go before the City Council for additional approval.
Davenport also gave an update on some projects, the following have an upcoming inspection:
Tidal Wave, located on 3585 East Andrew Johnson Highway, which will be ready to open soon.
The Marathon Gas Station on West Main Street, on the corner of Marshall Lane. It should be open within the next week or so.
The new Stowaway building on Serral Drive, behind Gondolier Restaurant, that’s set to open next week or the beginning of next year.
Precision Turning on West Irish Street. Davenport says the business is growing and more space was needed in their building. That has now been completed.
