The Greeneville Municipal Planning Commission met yesterday morning and among items approved on their agenda was an estimate for the Johnson Farms Development, located at 389 North Roof Taylor Road, for $110,000 to cover the required cost of improvements needed to meet minimum subdivision regulations.

The estimate was calculated by the Town of Greeneville Planning and Engineering Department. The improvements needed are for the final plat of phase number one for the development, which includes a 5-foot wide sidewalk and topcoat of asphalt.

Also approved was the Joy B. Trantham and Michael Bird property. A new Marathon Convenience Store and Gas Station, similar in appearance to the existing facility, will be added directly across the street. Since it was approved it will go for a reading before the Board of Mayor and Aldermen for rezoning. Currently it’s zoned R-2 (Medium Density) Residential and the request is to change the southeast quadrant of the property to B-1 (Neighborhood) Business. The new location would allow there to be a better and safer entrance into the Gas Station, as there have been numerous accidents near that intersection reported.
