The Greeneville Municipal Airport will be closing this summer in order to get some projects done.
According to a letter sent out to airport users, it states in efforts to keep Tennessee airports well maintained and safe, the Tennessee Department of Transportation will be doing some state-wide maintenance projects. The Airport Manager stated in the letter that the airport will get a threshold displacement to return KGCY to permanent licensure, a rehabilitation of the apron around the older T-hangars to hopefully correct some flooding issues, and asphalt re-sealing and re-marking of the runway.
For the maintenance to be completed the runway and areas around the airport will need to be closed including access to the T-hangars and other buildings. Currently, the timeframe of the closure is from July 21 – September 4th, since projects are happening across the state, timelines may change slightly.
