A man was arrested after fleeing officers who were trying to detain him due to a warrant.
According to the report, a traffic stop was conducted about 9 PM Tuesday on North Rufe Taylor Road because of headlight out on a vehicle. A records check showed a passenger in the car, James Abbott of Greeneville, to have an active warrant for Violation of Probation. Officers asked Abbott to step out the vehicle and when trying to detain him, he reportedly pulled away and took off running toward Old Stage Road.
Commands were made by the officer for Abbott to stop but he did not and a Taser was deployed, but it was reportedly unsuccessful. The officer was able to catch to the suspect and took him down to the ground. Abbott was placed under arrest for the warrant and charged with Resisting Arrest.
