A Greeneville man was arrested this week on Second Degree Murder charges related to the apparent drug related death of 31 year old Rusty Grindstead last year.
45 year old Bobby Lynn Laws, Jr. of 155 Chickasaw Drive was taken into custody Monday following a warrant check at his residence.
Deputies say they forced entry into the home after they could hear movements inside but the suspect would not come to the door. He was standing inside the doorway when they entered and was placed under arrest.
He was transported to the Detention Center to await his initial court appearance
Laws had been indicted by a Greene County Grand Jury May 1 on three presentments, one for second degree murder by distribution of drugs with fentanyl the proximate cause of the death, another with methamphetamine with fentanyl and the third with fentanyl and any other substance(s) leading to the death.
Grindstead was found dead at his home in the early morning hours of May 3, 2025.
Laws remains held at the Greene County Detention Center on $100,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled July 31st.
