During a brief meeting this morning at the GEA building, the Greeneville Historic Zoning Commission granted two “Certificate of Appropriateness” applications.
Darlene Clark was approved for exterior painting of her residence at 301 North Main Street.
Demolition of a house at 506 West Main Street was also approved following a request from First Baptist Church. The Harry and Charlotte Fortner property had been given to the church. It includes a home at 504 West Main in front and the 106-year-old residence behind it at 506 West Main. Deemed an eyesore, “a potential safety hazard as it stands” and not worth trying to renovate, plans are to demolish that particular structure. However, the property at 504 is planned to be put on the market. Mark Williams spoke on behalf of the Church Trustees at the meeting. Dave Wright also addressed issues with the property. Greeneville Building Official Bert Seay and Development Services Director Andy Broyles were also in attendance to give input and answer any questions of the commission members.
