The Greeneville Energy Authority met yesterday morning and CEO Chuck Bowlin spoke on some projects, including Silicon Ranch Solar Farm.
He said the project is moving along and should be completed in the next months. He anticipates it could be done sooner but says March is the end goal. Silicon Ranch once in affect, would be serving all electrical power needs to about 670 average homes in the county and would be done at a cheaper rate. This would be just the first installation, but Bowlin says once done with all 4 installations, around 2,400 customers would be served.
The CEO told the board he is scheduled to meet with the Tennessee Department of Transportation on Thursday, along with local mayors and others to discuss several projects and potential it could bring along the 11E. He’s hoping to get information from TDOT to expedite the projects and will have more information soon.
A request was made by Bowlin to have an electric vehicle charging station and have a designated meter. He said it’s not needed now but suspects it will be in the future. There are 3 levels of chargers with level 1 being the average used in homes. The charging station requested would have levels 2 and 3 and would draw a minimum of 50 kw compared to the 15 kw you would normally get at home.
