Ballad Health is planning capital improvements at Greeneville Community Hospital.
A $150,000 project to modernize and renovate the main lobby of the hospital, and to create a new surgical registration and waiting area. This involves updating the main lobby’s flooring, paint and décor and providing new furniture. Additional space will be updated to create a new surgical registration and waiting area, which will receive new paint, décor and furniture, as well.
“This project should really make a difference to our patients and their families,” said Eric Carroll, chief executive officer for Greeneville Community Hospital. “It will create a welcoming environment that benefits the families of both surgical and non-surgical patients.
“We’ve seen a steady increase in the number of people we treat with outpatient services, so these improvements will reduce crowding in other waiting areas, as well. And it will create a better working environment for our doctors, nurses and other team members.”
The total cost of the project is $150,000. Ballad Health Foundation has $75,000 in matching funds, and so far has raised $28,000 of the remaining total – leaving another $47,000 to be raised.
Since the formation of Ballad Health, the hospital has offered new services to the residents of Greene County, such as advanced cardiac imaging as well as robotic-assisted surgery using the da Vinci robotic-assisted surgical system. The hospital has added a new GE Revolution Ascend CT Scanner and a new Uroview 8k surgical table for urology and gastroenterology.
The emergency department recently completed Phase 1 of expansion, adding treatment rooms and updating paint, flooring and furniture in waiting areas. Phase 2 will continue this expansion, adding even more area for patient care. Going a step beyond the emergency department, the hospital has seen major improvements to patient rooms, including:
◦ 72 new medical/surgical patient beds
◦ New patient recliners
◦ New patient visitor chairs
◦ New bedside tables
◦ New vital sign machines
“Greene County is an important part of the area that Ballad Health serves, and we are always working to enhance the care we provide to this region,” Carroll said. “We realize a great hospital is a vital part of any community. We want Greeneville Community Hospital to continue to serve the people here for years to come.
The latest improvements were the focus of a recent event, the Greeneville Community Hospital Friend Raiser, hosted by the Greeneville Advancement Council in conjunction with the Ballad Health Foundation on April 17 at Oak Meadows Farm and Venue in Greeneville.
The free event offered hospital leaders an opportunity to tout investments being made at Greeneville Community Hospital to enhance and expand services and keep healthcare local. It was also a chance to look at what’s planned for the future.
At the Friend Raiser event, Carroll; Dr. Daniel Lewis, chief medical officer for the hospital; and Dr. Mark Patterson, president of Ballad Health Medical Associates; along with Jack Simpson, president of Ballad Health Foundation, shared updates and thoughts about past, current and future investments in Greene County services, including efforts to increase the number of physicians serving the area.
