Greeneville City Schools Press Release

Greeneville City Schools is pleased to announce Angelia Manuel as the new Director of the Family Resource Center. Angelia brings more than twenty years’ experience with a focus on program management and development, family and community engagement, education awareness, and student and family assistance programs. She obtained her Bachelor of Social Work from East Tennessee State University and Master of Human Service, Marriage and Family Therapy degree from Liberty University.

Angelia began her career with Greeneville City Schools in 1994 as an instructional assistant. In 1995, she took on a new role in the area of family support with the Family Resource Center. During her tenure, Angelia has served Greeneville City Schools and the Greeneville community in various capacities, a few include: Family Resource Center Director (1996-2015); Greeneville City Schools Diversity Team; Northeast Tennessee Council on Children and Youth; AHERNews Staff Writer; and numerous community and civic organizations.

In 2017, Angelia served as Family and Community Liaison with Rhoda Martin Learning Center with Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte’ Vedra, Florida. During this time, she led program development and coordinated agency partnerships of intensive support services designed to move families to self-sufficiency.

In 2019, while in Manama, Bahrain (The Middle East), Angelia volunteered as a Navy Command Ombudsman. She was a link between command leadership and families to improve communication and resolve issues. She also provided necessary and useful information, outreach, and service referrals for family members.

In 2023, Angelia’s most recent role with Greeneville City Schools was Student Support Specialist.

Angelia was part of the Family Resource Center in its early years and is “honored to have the opportunity to do so again.” Family Resource Centers were first established in 1993 and are now located throughout the state of Tennessee. Each center is unique and works to empower students and families, and establish collaborative partnerships, while meeting needs and bridging gaps.

Angelia is passionate about programs that uplift diverse populations, advocate for change, and facilitate growth while challenging barriers and building relationships. She shared, “this is what the FRC is about.”

Angelia also shared, “The mission of the Family Resource Center is to ‘unlock potential.’ As the Director of the Greeneville City Schools Family Resource Center, it is a privilege to be a part of that mission. I believe that this journey will be one that will empower individuals and families, impact growth in various ways, meet needs and build relationships in our community. Joseph Campbell shared that passion will move men beyond themselves. What an exciting opportunity to be able to live my passion daily, which is serving others. I am looking forward to the new position and to continue the work of the FRC.”
