The Greeneville City School Board of Education voted to approve a School Nutrition Traulsen Pass-Thru Heated Cabinet for the Greeneville High School during their meeting Thursday evening.
The current heated cabinet in the GHS kitchen has been in service for more than 27 years and is no longer eligible for service due to its age. Because of the potential safety hazard if the equipment continues to get used, the replacement was approved for $26,913.88.
Also approved during the meeting was the purchase of the SonicWall Firewall for $51,178.30, which helps with the loss of data or breach of security. The network security helps with the overall success of the district and the safety/security. GCS Network Administrator, Larry Jones, who monitors and evaluates top market solutions, recommended the SonicWall solution. ESSER and IT funds will cover the cost.
The board voted to nominate Greeneville High School Junior Jack Lampe to serve as a student representative on the board. According to Tennessee Code Annotated (TCA) 49-1-301 (a) (6), it states the Tennessee State Board of Education should include one public high school student member, appointed by the Governor, and the public high school student shall be of superlative standing and shall serve for a one-year term. Lampe was chosen as a student that reflects the highest standards of academic achievement, character, and community engagement.
