The Greeneville City Council will consider a resolution to approve an economic impact plan for the development of “Shops at Greeneville.”

According to the resolution, an economic impact plan was prepared and submitted to the council regarding the development located by East Andrew Johnson Highway, Harlan Street, and Fast Pace Health Urgent Care. The property has about six acres and is expected to include Texas Roadhouse, Panda Express, and a potential retail development.

Both Greeneville and the developer determined a need for a traffic signal at the intersection of E. Andrew Johnson Highway and Serral Drive. The plan would permit certain tax increment financing through the issuance of the Board’s bonds, notes, or other obligations. The total amount should not exceed $450,000 and would go toward the Traffic Signal Project.

The City Council will also consider a purchase for the Public Works Department for two Wavetronix vehicle detection systems, a purchase for ammunition and supplies at the Greeneville Police Department, and special event sign requests for the Greene County Antique Farm and Auto Show and the Incredible Farm Dinner Downtown.

There will additionally be a public hearing and consideration of an Ordinance on second and final reading adopting and enacting a codification and revision of several ordinances.

The meeting will begin at 4 PM at the Greeneville Energy Authority Building on 110 North College Street. The Beer Board will meet after the City Council meeting.
