The Greeneville City Council is moving in a different direction in the search for a new City Manager. The interim City Manager will negotiate a contract with Sumter Local Government Consulting
FIRST SEARCH PAUSED
The City Council paused the search being conducted by MTAS earlier this year, leaving three candidates who had been selected for additional interviews in limbo. The action Tuesday by the City Council effectively ends the MTAS search process, despite continued objections from council member Tim Teague, who has continued to contend the first search has resulted in three candidates who should still be considered.
SIX SUBMIT REQUESTS TO BE CONSIDERED
Interim City Manager Cathy Osborne told the City Council Tuesday proposals had been received for those interested in assisting the town in the new search.
A committee consisting of Osborne, Finance Director Lora Young, HR Director Patsy Fuller and Andrew Kerr brought two of the six to the board for consideration.
MGT Impact Solutions, based in Tampa, Florida and Sumter Local Government Consulting based in Atlanta , scored the highest among those who submitted information for the job. The committee met via TEAMS with both firms on Monday.
The request for qualifications did not require a dollar amount from the companies, but Osborne said all did include that. MGT would be a base amount of $23,000 plus other services which would mean additional costs. Sumter would charge $21,000 plus additional costs for their services.
Sumter’s proposal is for an eight week process. MGT’s called for a fourteen week search. Sumter is already involved in another City Manager search in Tennessee, although White House, Tennessee calls that position City Administrator.
Osborne will next begin the process of entering into a contract with Sumter.
WILL USE MTAS FOR POLICE CHIEF SEARCH
Despite issues with the MTAS work in the search for a new City Manager, City Council Tuesday did approve a request from the Police Department that MTAS be used to assist in helping find a new Greeneville Police Chief. MTAS Police Consultant Jeff Stiles, who assisted in the most recent Police Chief search, will assist in the search again.
LANDFILL
In items related to the landfill, City Council approved an increase in Tipping Fees at the landfill effective July 1st.
City Council also approved a change order in support of the demolition landfill expansion project.
As it relates to Public Works , approval was granted for an increase in roll off container pull charges, effective July 1st.
The purchase of a street sweeper to support road maintenance, beautification, storm water and related programs was also approved. Public Works funds are being used for the purchase.
