The Greeneville City Council was supposed to meet this afternoon but the meeting has been cancelled due to illness.
All scheduled business, including the swearing-in of newly elected members, Matt Hensley and Tim Teague, will be moved to the Tuesday, September 17th meeting.
The City Council agenda includes a consideration of a sale to Greene County for 5.1 acres of property on Hal Henard Road. The Town of Greeneville has 1/3 ownership and the Greene County School system has 2/3 ownership. The property is currently utilized by the county as a convenience center. If approved, the purchase consideration needs to go before the county commission. The lot would be sold for $100,000.
The city council will also discuss a grant for Greeneville Police to apply for through the U.S. Department of Justice for a Bulletproof Vest Partnership. Additionally, the council will consider a special event sign request for the Fall Festival of Nations on September 28th.
