In addition to recognizing the three school board members during their last meetings, the Greeneville City Board of Education breezed through a short August agenda Tuesday afternoon.

GMS TRACK RESURFACING
It included approval of resurfacing of the Greeneville Middle School track.
The $244,220.17 for the work by Beynon Sports comes from the capital funds from the capital projects plan approved by the school board earlier this summer.
Assistant Director of Schools for Administration Jason Horne reported to the board “the asphalt below the track surface is in good shape and will not need to be repaved,” which would have increased the overall cost substantially.
Horne says the install of the new surface will be completed in the fall.
MEETING OPENING
As the meeting began, Board member Cindy Luttrell requested a moment of silence to remember Ray Smith, who was her first Board Chair when she joined the school board in 2003.
ANDERSON AND JAMESON GET THINGS STARTED
Eastview students Anderson and Jameson, the sons of School Nutrition Supervisor Brianna Holt, helped open the meeting with the sounding of the gavel and leading the pledge.
