The Greeneville Board of Mayor and Aldermen gave approval for the next steps for the purchase of 20 acres for Hardin Industrial Park by R Enterprises.
The company remanufactures and sells ambulances nationwide. Owner Jay Roth met with City Administrator Todd Smith and Greene County Partnership President Jeff Taylor to negotiate the sale of the 20-acre purchase. After discussion and research R Enterprises presented their offer, which states an outright purchase of land from the city for $15,000 per acre with a total of $300,000 for all 20 acres.
Smith will work with City Attorney Ron Woods to formalize an agreement, which would be brought back to the board for final approval in the upcoming meetings.
The board approved the resolution to apply for the Community Development Block Grant Program. The program provides assistance to small cities in Tennessee and will help with improvements to Greeneville sidewalks. The grant totaling $630,000 will help with connectivity in downtown Greeneville.
