The Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development reported today Greene County’s unemployment rate in May was 3.7 percent, up from 3.0 percent in April.
Greene County’s rate a year ago was 3.6 percent.
The unemployment rate for May 2023 increased in 94 Tennessee counties and decreased in one county. A total of 93 counties recorded unemployment rates below 5 percent in May. Moore County had lowest rate at 2.4 percent. Bledsoe and Scott Counties had the highest rate, each at 5.3 percent.
The state seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady in May at 3.3 percent, for the second consecutive month. County numbers are not not seasonally adjusted to take into account seasonal interruptions in employment, such as summer breaks for schools or severe weather events.
