According to data released Thursday afternoon by the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development, Greene County’s unemployment rate in May was 3.9 percent, down from 4.3 percent in April.
The county’s rate a year ago was 4.1 percent.
The unemployment rate for May 2026 decreased in 69 Tennessee counties, increased in eight counties, and remained the same in 18 counties. Williamson County had the lowest rate at 2.4 percent, while Perry had the highest at 5.3 percent.
The state unemployment rate for May was 3.6 percent, unchanged for the fourth consecutive month.
