The Greene County Board of Education approved an addition to their Athletic Fan Code of Conduct, which states if any student or adult who chooses to display unacceptable behavior that violates provisions of the TSSAA policy, will pay a $250 fine and shall serve a two game suspension.
According to the Code of Conduct, Greene County Schools in association with the TSSAA, promotes interscholastic events and sportsmanship, an essential part of any athletic competition which is expected from athletes, coaches, officials, and fans. As a fan or spectator (the student or adult of the schools), behavior should be positive, respectful, and encouraging.
Unacceptable behaviors such as disruptive unruly or intoxicated behavior, foul or abusive language or obscene gestures, and use of alcohol or tobacco at athletic events, will lead to the fan being ejected by an official.
If a fan is ejected and falls under the TSSAA policy that places a $250 fine on the school, then the fan shall reimburse the $250 fine back to the school and serve a two game suspension before being allowed back to any sporting events. If the occurrence happens more than once then the said fan is not allowed on any Greene County Schools property for the remainder of the year. If this happens then that person will be notified by a certified letter. Administrators may apply further consequences to a student ejected from a contest due to the student violating school rules.
This Athletic Fan Code of Conduct was approved by the Greene County Board of Education and fans who who do not comply and violates provisions, will be subject to sanctions. Sanctions may include refusal of admittance, removal from the event without refund, and loss of ticket privileges for future events. The school administration reserves the right for the sanctions if deemed necessary.
