The Greene County Regional Planning Commission had their monthly meeting on Tuesday afternoon filled with mostly people who wanted to hear the outcome of the final site plan approval for the Presidential View RV Ranch in Camp Creek.
The site plan was approved but not before several people, including lawyers, spoke for and against its total existence during a discussion that was opened to the public. Currently, there is a lawsuit against Greene County because of the RV Park, which was approved in October, 2023 on Woolsey College Road. Residents concerns since they found out about the approval included not being given enough notice, buffer requirements, unsafe roads for RV travel, and the affect on farmland and animals. The planning commission gave those who wanted to speak three minutes each to voice any concerns. Almost each resident that spoke against the RV Park moving forward said that someone was going to get hurt traveling on that road and that it wasn’t wide enough for trucks, RV’s, and trailers to pass each other; it wasn’t a matter of if but a matter of when. Safety was a continued discussion during the three and a half hour meeting. The property owners attended on Tuesday and were ready to address all the issues, including measurements of the road and the high winds in the area.
Jennifer Ademac said safety is their main priority. She expressed how having an RV allows you to leave whenever want and that there would be a warning and time to leave the site if dangerous weather and damaging winds was in the forecast. Ademac said that there are strong winds everywhere and people are use to migrating in their RV’s because of hazardous weather. Her husband Glenn Merklin said several trucks and other vehicles have been driving on the road for weeks and haven’t had any problems passing each other or complaints to 911. He also added he would be glad to measure the road again. Other residents that spoke in favor of the RV Park mentioned there have never been any problems on Woolsey College Road with trucks/trailers passing each other and said they supported the owners with their dream. Both have invested nearly $1M and have a budget of $5M.
Ultimately, the regional planning commission had no reason to deny the site plan as the property owners met all requirements that were set through Greene County’s regulations. The site plan was approved subject to review from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.
