Greene County Recovery Court hosted a celebration and placed a banner in front of the Greene County Courthouse Thursday in recognition of National Treatment Court Month.
Tyler Kelly, Director of the program says “as the Director of Greene County Recovery Court, I get to see the real impact recovery can have on people’s lives. This program isn’t just about meeting requirements—it’s about helping individuals find stability, purpose, and support. When people succeed in recovery, it doesn’t just change their lives—it strengthens families, reduces crime, and builds a healthier, safer community for all of us. We have 24 in the program currently and accepted 3 today!
Lea Anne Spradlen said Thursday “being part of the recovery court team isn’t just an honor- it’s personal. As someone who’s walked the road of recovery, I know the setbacks and the strength it takes to keep going. That’s why I’m here- to stand in the gap, offer hope, and remind people that change is possible. “
Judge Ken Bailey presides over Greene County Recovery Court and said Thursday, “I will say one of the reasons I think our program has been successful is because of the sense of community that our clients are able to create while in the program. For many of our clients, they have never felt like they were a part of something in this program helps them fill part of a group doing good work. Also, our director Tyler Kelly does an exceptional job of making connections with each of our clients. Additionally, John Toney who is our group therapist does phenomenal work with all of them Processing trauma.”
Throughout the month of May, the Greene County Recovery Court will join more than 4,000 treatment courts across the country to celebrate leading people out of the justice system into long-term recovery!
This event aims to raise awareness about the importance of treatment courts and to celebrate the success of the local program in Greene County.
