Greene County Celebrates the Next Generation of Leaders

Greene County, TN – April 23, 2025 – The future of Greene County shines a little brighter this week, as 39 outstanding local teens were celebrated for graduating from the Greene County Partnership’s Youth Leadership Program. The ceremony, held at Chuckey-Doak High School, recognized months of hard work, growth, and community involvement.

Graduates received their certificates from Jessie Beth Miller, Leadership Director at the Greene County Partnership, and Ashlyn Wilson, also of the Partnership, during a heartfelt ceremony filled with pride and inspiration.

Several students received special honors for going above and beyond. Griffin Gricunas was awarded the prestigious Barbara Lawson Memorial Scholarship, Jamie Jackson was honored with the Heart of Gratitude Award, and Layne Miller earned the Leadership Through Curiosity Award.

Community leaders joined the celebration to offer words of encouragement and praise. Speakers included Greeneville High School Principal DeAnna Martin, Greeneville Mayor Cal Doty, Greene County Mayor Kevin Morrison, and GCP President Jeff Taylor, who each commended the students for their dedication to leadership and service. The ceremony was followed by ice cream offered by Creamy Cup.

The Youth Leadership Program empowers local upperclassmen by immersing them in the many layers of community life. From leadership development and agriculture to government, business, and social services, students gain a behind-the-scenes look at the systems that shape Greene County.

Graduates walk away not only with new knowledge, but also with a renewed sense of purpose and the confidence to lead in their schools, neighborhoods, and beyond.
