The Greene County Budget and Finance Committee meets again Wednesday morning to continue to review budget requests from the various departments and other agencies requesting county funding.
But after a meeting earlier this month to discuss the Sheriff’s Department and EMS budgets, County Mayor Kevin Morrison told Radio Greeneville News “There’s not going to be a tax increase this year. The budget looks good, no tax increase from the county’s perspective. We’ll see how it shakes out come time for the county commission to vote on it, hopefully in the June meeting, at the latest July.”

The budget meeting tomorrow, which begins at 8:30 am at the Annex, will include discussions about budget requests from the Solid Waste and Health Departments.
GREENEVILLE CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP
The Town of Greeneville continues budget talks this afternoon. At their last budget workshop a week ago, City Council members were encouraged by Finance Director Lora Young to submit suggestions to help bridge the financial gap which as it currently stands, would require a seven cent tax increase to balance the city budget. That meeting begins at 4:00 today in the G. Thomas Love Board Room at the GEA Building.
