It’s usually not loud in Judge Ken Bailey’s courtroom. Thursday after the lunch break was the exception.
JUDGE SURPRISE
JUDGES DISCUSSES 20 YEARS ON THE BENCH
CLICK BELOW as Radio Greeneville News Director Bobby Rader spoke with the judge after the surprise.
A crowd of co-workers and others in the judicial field, family and friends joined in the session’s courtroom at the courthouse to surprise Bailey for his 20 years on the bench as Greene County Juvenile and Sessions Judge.
Organized by his courthouse staff, the reception featured comments and thanks from the judge and a presentation of a gavel on a plaque recognizing his time on the bench as well as a framed print which attendees were asked to sign. The reception included a cake in his honor and other goodies.
OTHER POSSIBLE CAREER CHOICES…PROBABLY NOT
Had the Judge not chosen the career path he did, could he have turned to other career choices, such as a world class Tug-Of War champion as seen in this Exchange Club field day event

Or an NBA standout which would have left Michael Jordon quivering in his Nike’s.

Or even an actor on Broadway, following up on his first known stage appearance (in green shirt in the middle) in the 2016 production of the Putnam County Spelling Bee on the stage of the Capital Theatre.

He was a guest speller that evening, chosen by the cast. Olive (a/k/a Faith Rader) seen in the pink and blue on the front row, knowing his name and job ahead of time, would affectionately and to this day give him his stage name of “Judgekin”
