Greene County Sheriff Wesley Holt announced in a press release Monday that the Greene County Jail and Workhouse has been officially recertified by the Tennessee Corrections Institute for the year 2026.
Prior to Monday’s press release, Sheriff Holt told the Greene County Insurance Committeee last week that the jail and workhouse had been recertified, based on a clean inspection of the 11th consecutive year, reaffirming the facility’s compliance with state standards for the operation, safety, and management of local correctional facilities.
The recertification follows a comprehensive inspection and review process conducted by the TCI, which evaluates areas including inmate care, facility security, staff training, recordkeeping and overall operational practices.
Successful recertifications confirms that the Green County Jail and Workhouse continues to meet or exceed the rigorous standards established by the state.
Sheriff Holt said longtime veteran Jail Administrator John Key and Captain Seth Weese continue to play a critical role in ashieving and maintaining certifications standards through their leading and ongoing commitment to staff training and accountability within the facilities.
