The Greene County Fair has been awarded the Champion of Champions award, recognizing the 2024 fair as the best in the state. The award was presented at the annual Tennessee Association of Fairs convention this weekend in Nashville. It’s the fourth time in the fair’s history that it has been named the top fair in the state.
The Greene County Fair was the AAA Division winner last year, which made them eligible for the championship award this year. Board President Rick Clark said that a panel of judges visited all fairs in the state each year, but as a Divisional Winner last year, extra attention was given to the local fair this year.
Putting on the fair is a year round project for the volunteers. Clark said over 8.000 hours go into making the local fair the best in the state.
Clark also said that Greene County Fair Vice President Rhonda Humbert is now serving on the state fair board, and will become it’s chairman in January of 2026. Humbert joins former Greeneville Mayor and Fair Association President James Hardin as the only local members to lead the state association. Hardin served as the president in 1965.
