COURTHOUSE BATHROOM CONSTUCTION UNDERWAY
The construction of a three-story restroom addition at the courthouse got underway this week. Contractor C&C Millwright is working to complete the facility in less than a year, and at an expected cost of $2.2 million.
The addition is meant to solve persistent plumbing issues at the courthouse. Issues with water pressure, discolored and brown water flowing through taps, and non-working toilet drains have been ongoing for over a year.
The three-story addition will include about 4,350 square feet, mostly taken up by six public restrooms in addition to six employee bathrooms. Two additional restrooms would also be added for the jury room on the third floor, with some additional space in the jury area.
As a part of the project, attempts to repair four toilets inside the building will be made. However, all other toilets in the building will be decommissioned.

The Greene County Commission recently approved a bond issuance to fund the addition and repairs at the courthouse.
