The Greene County Commission will meet this evening and will consider resolutions to amend the Greene County Zoning requirements for site plans, Solar Energy regulations, Wind Energy Facilities, and Data Centers and Cryptocurrency Mining within the unincorporated territory of Greene County.
This resolution is in connection with the moratorium that was extended to 14 months in February of 2023 so a study could be done by the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (TACIR). The study was to establish proper restrictions and requirements to protect the public health, safety, and general welfare.
In February of this year, after the results of the study, much research, several meetings, workshops, and insight from the community, the Greene County Regional Planning Commission approved the recommended revisions. The County Commission will vote to officially approve those recommendations tonight.
Also on the agenda for tonight is consideration of approval for funds in the amount of around $330,000 from the Opioid Abatement Council to be utilized for assistance to the Ballad Health-Strong Futures Program. The funds will allow them to continue their services in Greene County.
Opioid Settlement funds from the Abatement Council have to be used for remediation purposes such as prevention programs, services for pregnant and postpartum women, treatment for the incarcerated population, as well as medication assisted treatments, or other FDA approved drugs to reverse overdose.
The meeting will begin at 6 PM in the Criminal Courtroom at the Greene County Courthouse, located on South Main Street.
