The Greene County Board of Education met yesterday afternoon and heard a presentation from Walters State Community College and County High Schools on Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs for students.
The presentation showed just how affective the programs have been at the schools which include: South and North Greene, West Greene and Chuckey-Doak. Students have been learning, are excited, and getting prepared for their future with some students already getting their certifications. The programs allow students to earn credits that can go towards college. Programs include welding, health science, industrial maintenance, information technology and CNA programs.
Also at the meeting, the board, kids and teachers from Chuckey-Doak all praised Nadine Hopson, a Foster Grandparent at Chuckey Doak and expressed how Hopson has affected many who have been in her presence at the school. Many got emotional as they shared their thanks and appreciation for her. A video was even made with kids and teachers sharing what they love the most about her. She is a kindergarten queen according to all and has been so supportive over the years. She is a treasure at Doak and the song they made and dedicated to her showed it. Hopson was thankful and in tears by the end of it and was appreciative of the kind words.
