Plans are underway for Greene County 9-1-1 to assume use of the entire building where 9-1-1 is headquartered.
Until earlier this fall the building and zoning office had been housed there before their move to the Greene County Administrative Offices building.
County Attorney Roger Woolsey addressed the matter with the Greene County Budget and Finance Committee during their December meeting.
Greene County owns the building but 9-1-1 is responsible for upkeep and monthly costs although it does not pay rent.
9-1-1 Director Jerry Bird told Radio Greeneville News his board will discuss the matter during their meeting next week. Bird says plans are to use of portion on the available space for training and the remainder for storage.
The L shaped building fronts both Charles and Union Streets.
Approval of the plan would require both City and County action.
The 9-1-1 Board meets Tuesday, December 9th in the first floor conference room at the Greene County Administrative Center.
