George Clem Multicultural Alliance is having their 8th of August Celebration this Saturday, August 3rd at Coach JJ Jones Community Park on 312 Floral Street.
The celebration is from 2-10 PM and dates back to 1863 when Andrew Johnson freed his personal slaves here in Greeneville. The first celebration was orchestrated in 1871 by Sam Johnson, Andrew Johnson’s former slave, with a parade down Main Street.
Activities start at 2 PM with musical acts, kid games, food, a guest speaker, and much more. The Headliner is R&B sensation Rome, who will perform at 9 PM.
