Gail Outhouse, 71, passed away Thursday, surrounded by people who loved her. And who didn’t love Gail? Whether you knew her from the cable company, the insurance office, the box office or the church, you knew the same Gail, full of laughter, mischief and love. She even took that love and light on the missionary trail with her husband, Carl, spending two years in Macedonia.
Gail loved games, and she loved children. She loved music, and she loved her people. Everything she did, she did with her whole heart. The world will be darker without her light and her sweet spirit, but those who were fortunate enough to feel it are in a better place because of it.
Left to carry that beacon are her sister, Paige (Frank) Mengel; her brother, Shane (Donna) Malone; special niece, Shanna (Scott) Howard; nephews, Shane and Seth Malone; her fiancé, Randy Penland; her lifelong buddy, JoAnn (Charles) Simmons; and her church family, especially Debbie, Lisa Carol, Diane, Barb, Lisa and Jeremiah. She is also survived by several loving cousins and the family we gained when Shane married Donna — Jake, Felicia, Vanessa and Jayden, and all of the folks they love. Gail’s heart was big enough to hold them all.
Those who had gone on to save Gail’s place at the table are her mother, Frances Malone; her father, Leon Malone; her husband, Carl Outhouse; and her special aunt, Grace Thompson.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church, with the service to follow at 7 p.m.
Memorial gifts may be made to Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church, 2320 Old Tusculum Road, Greeneville, TN 37745, or to the Greeneville Theatre Guild, P.O. Box 2002, Greeneville, TN 37744.
