Further details are available on charges filed following a wreck on Thanksgiving that occurred during a police pursuit.
A deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department initiated a traffic stop around 2:30 PM on a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Taylor Hensley. Both she and the passenger, 24-year-old Adonte Lawson, had active warrants.
Hensley fled at excessive speeds on East Andrew Johnson Highway, reportedly going up to 120 miles per hour. The pursuit passed several vehicles on 11-E before Hensley turned onto Chuckey Highway. The car then lost control, running off the right side of the roadway on Chuckey Highway near the Choctaw Drive intersection. The vehicle then re-entered the roadway, spun sideways, ran off the left side of the road, and struck a large utility pole on the passenger’s side. The car then spun around and struck a guard rail on the driver’s side before coming to a final rest.
Hensley and Lawson were injured and transported by EMS for treatment of their injuries.
Hensley was charged with felony evading arrest, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, and violation of the financial responsibility law. Lawson was charged with felony evading arrest and felony reckless endangerment.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the wreck.
