Funeral arrangements have been made for long time Greeneville businessman Gordon Williams, who passed away Monday following an accident on North Main Street between the Greeneville/Greene County Library and First Baptist Church.
The accident occurred around 8:00 am. Upon the Greeneville Police Department’s arrival, Anselmo Torres, the driver of the vehicle, stated that both he and Williams were on their way to First Baptist Church on Main Street when Torres remembered that he had forgotten something at home. He stated that Williams said he was going to ride back to his home with him. When Torres attempted a U-turn on Main Street, he stated that Williams had unbuckled his seat belt and had the door of the truck open thinking he was getting dropped off at the church. During the U-turn Williams fell out of the truck. EMS initially treated Williams at the scene then transported him to Greeneville High School where Highlands Air Rescue airlifted him to the Johnson City Medical Center where he later passed away.
