Frustration continues to mount with Greene County School leaders and board members over issues in the new CTE addition at West Greene and the continued delay in the opening of the CTE addition at Chuckey Doak.
WEST GREENE CTE ISSUES
While students have been using the addition at West Greene since after the Christmas break, Architect Dave Wright says there are flooring issues in several areas throughout the building. He and Chris Adams also updated the school board Thursday night on several leaks which have occurred in the roof of the new building.
CHUCKEY DOAK CTE NEARS COMPLETION – MAYBE
The project manager told Dave Wright Thursday the Chuckey Doak facility is 94% complete and plans for completion by March 14th. That particular project is on its third painting contractor, having fired the first two for bad or shoddy work.
NO FURTHER PAY PROPOSED UNTIL BOTH JOBS FINISHED
School board member Larry Bible, who has long questioned why no penalty was in place for delays in construction of both projects, suggested no more payments be made to contractors until the job is totally finished. Board Chair Rick Tipton said he would reach out to the County Attorney concerning the possibility of such action.

MARCH 23 WILL BE STUDENT DAY
Monday, March 23rd will be a regular school day in the Greene County School system. The day had originally been scheduled as a Professional Development Day. But school board members approved a recommendation by the Director of Schools that students be in class that day, to make up a day lost due to winter weather.
