GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Tusculum University men’s and women’s track and field teams set four program records on the final day of the Aggie Invitational, hosted by North Carolina A&T State University on Saturday.

Junior Jahzara Hart (100 meters) and junior Danyell Booker (shot put) broke their own records in their respective events, along with the women’s 4×100-meter relay. Senior Joshua Stephens took down the longest-standing record in program history in the men’s triple jump during Saturday’s competition.

The Pioneers will begin preparation for the South Atlantic Conference Championship, which will take place Wednesday, April 30 and Thursday, May 1 at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina.

WOMEN’S RECAP
Hart, who broke her own 200 meters record on Friday, broke the program record in the 100 meters for the third time this season, running 11.33 in preliminaries to qualify second for the finals where she took third at 11.41 seconds. Junior Shanice Cox had a season-best time of 11.60 seconds in prelims and was sixth in the finals, with freshman Qitarah Castlin also earning a season best at 11.79 seconds.

In the 100 hurdles, freshman Kori Moore had a season-best time of 13.78 seconds in prelims to advance to the finals along with junior Theresa Green-White, who placed fifth in finals with a time of 13.61 seconds that is the second-best time of her career. Moore was eighth in finals at 14.07 seconds.

The 4×100 relay of junior Kiera Taylor, Cox, Green-White and Hart also set a program record for the third time this spring, taking first place at 44.89 seconds which is just ahead of their mark of 44.91 seconds set at the Blue Bear Invite on March 29. The quartet continues to rank in the top five in Division II in the event.

Booker broke the program record in the shot put for the fourth straight meet, throwing 13.18 meters (43 feet, 3 inches) to take fifth place.

MEN’S RECAP
Stephens broke the oldest men’s outdoor record at Tusculum with his fourth-place jump of 15.20 meters (49 feet, 10 1/2 inches), as he surpassed Yannick Rosalie who posted a mark of 15.15 meters (49 feet, 8 1/2 inches) at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier on May 2, 2018.

Junior Isaiah Olson advanced to the finals in the 100 meters, where he finished fifth with a time of 10.31 seconds.

In the 400 meters, freshman Jonathan Harris moved into fifth place on the program performance list with a time of 50.33 seconds.

The 4×100 relay of freshman Mica Ruffin, Olson, sophomore Kayvon Pickett and Stephens took third place at 40.62 seconds, with the 4×400 of senior Xay Bogus, Harris, Pickett and freshman John Ross taking sixth at 3:29.10.

In field events, the Pioneers had three of the top four finishers in the javelin as sophomore Michael McGrath was second at 48.84 meters (160 feet, 3 inches), sophomore Noah Girard placed third at 47.89 meters (157 feet, 1 inch) and sophomore Dylan Horne was fourth at 47.37 meters (155 feet, 5 inches).
