The combination of flooding and a rockslide led to the closure of Interstate 40 in Cocke County near the North Carolina/Tennessee state line Wednesday
TDOT spokesperson Mark Nagi says the rockslide had occurred near mile marker 450 in Cocke County. Nagi stated the area affected is roughly one mile from the state line.
Nagi reported late last night I-40 remained closed in both directions near the state line. TDOT will be on-site today to evaluate and assess impacts to infrastructure.
