Heavy rain in a short period of time resulted in several reports of flash flooding around the area during the four o’clock hour Tuesday afternoon.
In Baileyton, Director of Schools Dr. Chris Malone told Radio Greeneville News the rain resulted in water in three classrooms and the hallway. Crews were cleaning and drying out those areas late Tuesday in preparation for the abbreviated day for students today.
Baileyton Town Hall closed when that building was also affected by a reported two inches of rain in a one hour period. Baileyton Town Hall will remain closed today and the Planning Commission meeting for tonight has been cancelled.
There were also reports of water damage to at least one business and residence in that area.
In Mosheim, the pictures below provided by a listener, show the quickly rising water on Shane Street near Broom Factory Road.
