Fire Safety, Need For Volunteers Among Topics During Local Emergency Planning Meeting

Fire Marshall David Weems and Tusculum Volunteer Fire Department Chief Marty Shelton addressed a varied group of attendees during a Local Emergency Planning Committee meeting Wednesday.

Weems spoke about fire safety for industries  and businesses.

As it pertains to private citizens, Weems says local departments are always available to help make homes safer.

Shelton  discussed the importance of volunteer fire departments to the community and how industries and businesses can work with their local volunteer fire department.

Shelton also expressed the need for volunteers, reporting there has been a drastic drop in the number of volunteer firefighters over the past decade.
