According to the National Weather Service, elevated fire risk is possible this afternoon due to low relative humidity and ongoing drought conditions. High pressure will remain across the area producing dry conditions.
On Friday through Wednesday there is potential for a mountain wave wind event, specifically around Tuesday of next week, which if combined with drought conditions may also elevate fire risk. There is some rain in the forecast beginning this Friday through the weekend. Stay tuned to Radio Greeneville for weather updates.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. Use extreme caution when burning as fires may get out of hand quickly in these conditions.
