To protect the health and well-being of the animals in their care, Greene County Animal Control will be closed to the public on Saturdays beginning July 11, 2026, through September 8, 2026.
This temporary closure is necessary due to canine parvovirus (parvo) being introduced into the facility by relinquished canines. During this time, staff will be conducting enhanced cleaning, disinfection, and biosecurity measures to help eliminate the virus and reduce the risk of further exposure to animals housed at the shelter.
Animal intake services will continue during this period. However, any canines accepted into our care will be temporarily housed at the Old Humane Society Building to help protect them from potential exposure while the main facility undergoes continued sanitation efforts.
“We understand this temporary change may cause some inconvenience, and we sincerely appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we take the necessary steps to safeguard the health of the animals entrusted to our care.
Regular weekday business hours will remain unchanged. We anticipate resuming normal Saturday operations on September 12, 2026, unless circumstances require additional measures.”
