Elevated Fire Risk continues this afternoon due to breezy conditions and low relative humidity.
According to the National Weather Service, ongoing drought conditions, combined with breezy southwesterly winds and low relative humidity values, will lead to an elevated fire risk this afternoon and evening for East Tennessee.
Relative humidity values will drop into the low to mid 30s, and southwest winds will be sustained at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. The highest winds are expected across the higher elevations of the mountains.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. Use extreme caution when burning as fires may get out of hand quickly in these conditions.
