One person was injured in a single-vehicle crash Monday evening near the Pottertown Road and Payne Road intersection after a deer reportedly ran out in front of the driver.
The accident occurred shortly after 6:30 pm when a deer entered the roadway as the driver, 50-year-old Michael J. Balko, was negotiating a sharp curve. The Pontiac GTO ran off the roadway into a wooded area as Balko attempted to miss the deer.
According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Balko received a major, non-life-threatening injury. When the report was released Tuesday afternoon, Balko was listed in stable condition at an area hospital.
A passenger in the vehicle, 36-year-old Samantha A. Holt, was not injured in the accident.
