The stage was set, and the spotlight shone brightly on October 21, 2023, as Chuckey Doak High School played host to the prestigious Miss East Tennessee Scholarship Competition. Eighteen talented young women from the region showcased their skills, grace, and intelligence in a bid for scholarships totaling $4950 and a coveted chance to compete at Miss Tennessee at ETSU in June.
The competition kicked off with private interviews, allowing the contestants to demonstrate their poise and confidence. The event continued with the on-stage competition, featuring challenging on-stage questions, impressive talent displays, fitness routines, and elegant evening gown presentations. Miss Tennessee 2023, Brandee Mills and Miss Tennessee’s Teen, Anna Grace Parlipiano were the evening’s Emcees and crowned the winners of the competition. It was especially sweet for Anna Grace as she is a former Miss Greene County’s Teen in 2022. Brandee and Anna Grace will go to Orlando, Florida this January to represent Tennessee on the biggest stage, Miss America at Walt Disney World.
The winners of the Miss East Tennessee Scholarship Competition 2024 are as follows:
Miss East Tennessee 2024: Taylor Hubbard, is from Kingsport, Tennessee is First-Year PhD Student and Graduate Teaching Associate in Literature, Criticism, & Textual Studies in the Department of English at the University of Tennessee.Miss Historic Greeneville 2024: Eliza Sanders, daughter of Joel and Donna Sanders is from Kingsport, Tennessee and is attending Northeast State & ETSU pursuing a degree in Communications.
Miss Greene County 2024: Mylee Doty, daughter of Lynn and Jama Doty. She is from Greeneville, TN and is attending Milligan University pursuing a degree in Theatre Arts and Music.
Miss Greene County’s Teen: 2024 Brooke Gosnell is the daughter of Wendy Mercer and Scottie Gosnell she is from Greeneville Tennessee and is a student at South Greene High School.
Miss East Tennessee’s Teen 2024: Taylor Boyle, daughter of Shane and Marsha Boyle.
Taylor attends Western Christian Academy. She also received the Makinna Traylor scholarship for top teen interview.

The panel of distinguished judges, including former Miss Kentucky 1975 Marsha Griffith, Entrepreneur Kathrine Hackler, Hospitality Specialist Patricia Zullo, CFO of the Niswonger Group, Robin Shepherd, Educator Jessie Beth Miller, and Vice President of Tusculum Claire Hensley, faced the daunting task of evaluating a highly experienced group of eight Miss contestants and an incredibly talented group of ten teen contestants.
Expressing her excitement, Director Kristin Girton said, “I am thrilled to welcome five talented titleholders into our Miss East Tennessee program. The competition was fierce, but these young women showcased remarkable passion and dedication to representing their communities. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors, whose support made these incredible scholarships possible. We invite everyone to join us in cheering on these outstanding young women at Miss Tennessee as they proudly represent our community.”
