As a part of its ongoing “3rd Thursdays At The Mansion” event series, the Dickson-Williams Mansion Historical Association is hosting an event on Appalachian basketry Thursday evening.
Matt and Kim Presley will present “Woven in Wood: Our Appalachian Heritage” on Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the mansion
The Presleys will have on display selected examples of Appalachian baskets as they share their experiences amassing their collection, according to information provided by the association about the event. Kim Presley’s grandparents took part in making and collecting baskets, one of the south’s oldest art disciplines.
The event will include refreshments, and seating is limited.
Admission to the event is $20, and those wishing to attend must register in advance at https://www.dicksonwilliamsmansion.org .
Proceeds from the event go entirely to support the ongoing restoration and preservation of the Dickson-Williams Mansion.
