Two fires were reported this morning on Prairie Lane.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office first responded to arson at 18 Prairie Lane around midnight. Deputies arrived and spoke with the victim who said she and her family were getting ready for bed when they started smelling smoke. After looking around the home the smoke was discovered to be coming through the bathroom floor.
Flames were reportedly seen outside coming out from underneath the mobile home. According to the victim, her and her husband pulled insulation from under the home and put out the fire prior to deputies arrival.
While on the scene, deputies still smelled smoke and noticed an abandoned house at the upper end of the trailer park was on fire. According to the report, the house was only burning in the basement area by the time deputies arrived. Around 8 AM this morning the Fire Department was requested to Prairie Lane again, as there was a report of hot spots and the fire reigniting.
Fire investigator Bryan Shelton and Detective Brandon Basket responded as well as the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
