The community is invited to join The Town of Greeneville, our Mayor, and City Council at 4 p.m. today as we hold a dedication ceremony for Greeneville Fire Department’s new Engine No. 2 and new mini-pumper at Station No. 2 located at 945 Carson Street in Greeneville.

The new Engine No. 2 is a 2023 Sutphen Corporation rescue pumper that the department received on July 31st. It can accommodate six firefighters and has over 435 cubic feet of compartment space, a 1,000-gallon water tank, a 30-gallon foam tank, and a 2,000 GPM (gallon per minute) pump. This state-of-the-art engine arrives at a critical time when the department was facing decreased capacity due to aging engines being out-of-service. The mini-pumper was added to the fleet August 2022. It is on a Ford F-550 chassis with a 1,500 GPM pump and has 310 gallons of water and 20 gallons of Class-A foam.

To fund the purchase of Engine No. 2, the Town and Greeneville and the Greeneville Fire Department committees were awarded the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) in the amount of $609,600. A USDA Grant is paying $50,000 toward the engine. The Town of Greeneville’s match amount came to $95,400. The mini-pumper purchase was made possible by a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The public is invited to attend this event. Light refreshments will be provided after the dedication.
