The Circuit and Criminal Court Courtroom of the Greene County Courthouse has a new name.
Dozens of people gathered on the third floor of the Courthouse Thursday afternoon at 3:00 PM, for the dedication in honor of the late Gail Davis Jeffers. Mayor Kevin Morrison completed the resolution which was unanimously approved by the Greene County Commission to memorialize this courtroom for Jeffers, who served as the Circuit Court Clerk of Greene County from 1994 until 2012.
Morrison spoke of Jeffers’ integrity, work ethic, dedication and professionalism before turning the floor over to the present Circuit Court Clerk, Whitney Collins.
Family members who unveiled the plaque, included Charles Jeffers, Andrea Hill, Judy Kitzmiller, and Chuck Jeffers.
Morrison finished by saying the memorial plaque placed prominently in the courtroom would serve as a reminder of the true public service which was the hallmark of Gail Davis Jeffers.
