The investigation is underway into a body found inside a West Pines Road residence destroyed by fire Monday.
Greene County Sheriff Wesley Holt reported last night that around 6:00 pm, Greene County 911 received a call of a structure fire at a home on West Pines Rd. The call was dispatched as “house on fire” with flames and smoke visible. A few minutes later, dispatchers advised the house was fully engulfed in flames.
First responders from Newmansville, Fall Branch, Tusculum, and United Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene. Firefighters worked quickly to bring the fire under control and discovered a body within the burnt debris.
Fire Investigators with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and the Greene County Sheriff’s Department continue their examination into the cause of the fire.
The deceased was sent to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center for an autopsy and identification.
