The special National Day of Prayer event in downtown Greeneville will still be held this weekend in conjunction with the Iris Festival, however the day has been moved.
A notice from the office of the Greene County Mayor this morning indicated due to anticipated traffic congestion and limited parking availability surrounding downtown activities, the Day of Prayer originally scheduled for Saturday, May 16th has been moved to Sunday, May 17th at Noon at the Greene County Courthouse.
This adjustment ensures that attendees can gather safely and comfortably for a time of community prayer and rededication. The event will continue to feature heartfelt messages, special ceremonies, and opportunities for residents to unite in faith and gratitude for our nation’s 250th anniversary. Participants are encouraged to visit the Iris Festival afterwards to support our vendors and community.
Participants are also encouraged to enjoy and support the Iris Festival, which will be taking place concurrently with the prayer service and throughout the rest of the day.
Mayor Kevin C. Morrison shared,
“Our goal is to make this gathering accessible and meaningful for everyone. By moving the event to Sunday, we’re ensuring that families and visitors can come together without the challenges of Saturday traffic. We look forward to lifting our voices in prayer for our community and our country.”
Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly and join together in seeking God’s blessing for America.
